About Trine 4: Melody of Mystery
Play this if you finished Trine 4 wanting six more of its puzzle boxes, and skip it if you hoped the story would finally grow teeth. Amadeus stacks conjured planks, Pontius angles light off his shield, Zoya ropes anything that will hold, and the levels keep asking you to rotate all three brains in order. The hand-painted layers still glow, and the score carries the emotional weight the writing does not. It is short, and I mean that as praise. It ends before the physics puzzles start repeating themselves, which is more discipline than most expansions manage. Split-screen and online co-op are still the best way in, mostly because three people solving one box puzzle badly is funnier than solving it cleanly. What you will not get is surprise. The narration stays weightless, the combat remains the dullest stretch, and nothing here reframes the series. Come for the craft.
