Steam Gift Card

A Steam Gift Card adds funds directly to your Steam Wallet. Use the balance for games, DLC, in-game items and anything else on the Steam store: there is no expiration date on wallet funds.

Wallet balance covers anything Steam sells: games, DLC, in game items on the Community Market, and gifts sent to friends. We track 1,975 listings for it across 4 stores, and the real difference between them is the currency and the face value. In USD the values run 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 80, 90 and 200. Euro cards cover 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15, 20, 25, 35, 55, 95 and 100. Chinese yuan runs 20 up to 465, including 40, 85, 120, 220 and 430.

The other currencies go wider. Brazilian real includes 10, 17, 20, 21, 30, 50, 60, 90, 100, 110, 160, 200, 300 and 350. Indian rupee starts at 350 and climbs through 750, 1,350, 1,680, 2,450 and 3,600 to 5,000. Japanese yen spans 1,050 to 17,650, Chilean peso 1,000 to 50,000, Korean won 5,000 to 160,000, Canadian dollar 5 to 170, and Kazakhstani tenge 2,000 to 55,000. A few listings are recorded as point values rather than a currency amount: 2, 3, 4, 5 and 100.

The currency printed on the card decides which account can use it. A wallet code issued for one country's Steam store will not redeem on an account set to a different country, and Steam stops you at the redeem screen instead of converting the value. Before you buy, open your Steam account page, check the store country and the currency your prices already display in, then pick the listing that matches. If your account is set to India, buy an INR value such as 900 or 2,000, not the USD equivalent.

One thing to weigh up before choosing a value: once a code is redeemed, the money is Steam wallet balance and it stays there. It cannot be transferred to another Steam account, converted back to money, or spent anywhere outside Steam. A leftover like 3 USD or 17 BRL just sits on the account until something cheap enough comes along. Buying a little under what you need and topping up again later usually strands less than buying well over, which is why the small values exist alongside the 200 USD and 100,000 KRW cards.
