About Atari Vault
Atari Vault bundles a century of the company's back catalog into one package: arcade hits like Asteroids and Centipede, 2600 console games, and deeper cuts most modern players have never heard of. The emulation itself is solid, and if you grew up with these games, there's real nostalgia fuel here. The problem is packaging. There's no context, no timeline, no 'why these games mattered.' It's presented as a jukebox, not a journey through video game history. If you're hunting for specific titles you remember fondly, Vault delivers them in working condition. But as a way to discover or understand Atari's legacy, it's thin. The interface is functional but bland, and there's no attempt to make the older, simpler games feel playable to someone born after 1990. You're paying for access to a vault, not a guided tour.
