About HELLDIVERS™ - Hazard Ops Pack
I've spent more time than I'd like to admit calling in stratagem drops at exactly the wrong moment, but the Hazard Ops Pack scratches a very specific itch in HELLDIVERS that most other DLC loadouts don't touch: crowd control through attrition. If you've been playing the base game and kept bumping into horde situations where raw damage output wasn't cutting it, this kit is worth understanding before you click buy. The pack delivers two weapons and a cosmetic set. The AR-14D Paragon is a heavy semi-automatic rifle whose rounds are loaded with neurotoxin rather than standard ordnance. It doesn't punch through armor the way its cousin the AR-20L Justice does, so you're trading penetration for a slow-and-sluggish debuff on anything you tag. In a four-player squad where someone else is running armour-piercing, that trade-off makes real sense. Solo, it feels like a compromise you didn't ask for. The TOX-13 Avenger is the more theatrical piece: a high-pressure toxic projector in the same vein as the FLAM-40 Incinerator, swapping napalm for a neurotoxin stream. Short range, messy, and absolutely catastrophic in a tight corridor when your teammates haven't stepped out of the way yet. Friendly fire is always on in HELLDIVERS, and the Avenger will remind you of that faster than almost anything else in the game. The Hazard Ops uniform (helmet, armor, cape) is cosmetic only, but it reads clearly on screen during co-op, which actually matters when your teammates need to know who's about to spray neurotoxin in every direction. No stat changes, no passive perks tied to the look. Pure aesthetic. The hazmat-inspired design fits the chemical warfare angle and it's one of the more visually distinct armor sets in the DLC catalogue. Here's the honest framing for this pack: HELLDIVERS itself is a very good twin-stick co-op shooter that leans hard on stratagem management, friendly fire chaos, and mission coordination. The base game has procedurally generated missions across varied planet types, three distinct enemy factions (Cyborgs, Illuminate, Bugs), and a stratagem system where you bring only four support tools per mission, so every loadout decision has weight. The Hazard Ops weapons slot into that system cleanly. The Paragon works best in a coordinated squad where the debuff chains with a heavier weapon; the Avenger pairs well with stratagems that benefit from slowed enemies, like mortar emplacements or aerial barrages. If you're already deep in the game and your group plays to synergise loadouts, this adds a legitimate toolkit. If you're still learning the base game, skip the DLC entirely and get more hours in first. The weakness here is the same weakness every small HELLDIVERS DLC carries: the value is narrow. Two weapons and a cosmetic don't change the game, they expand an existing playstyle for players who've already found their footing. The Avenger in particular demands situational awareness that newer players won't have, and the Paragon's lack of penetration makes it a specialist tool rather than an upgrade. Neither weapon dominates. That's actually fine for balance, but it means you won't feel an immediate power spike. Fred, Scout Team
