The problem with hunting for steam games cheap isn't finding cheap. Cheap is everywhere. Every keyshop front page is a wall of red discount tags, half of them for games nobody finished, priced a euro under a number you were never going to pay anyway. The problem is signal. Which two-euro impulse buy still holds up in 2026, and which one dies the second your squad tries to actually play it together?
That's the part I care about. I came here to play with people, so I sorted these twenty real catalog picks by whether the servers are worth joining, the co-op is worth a Discord call, or the single-player is good enough to justify a night off the ranked ladder. Every price below is the current buyable number from our database. No invented all-time-lows, no fake countdowns.

The picks that actually earn the download
A few of these are here on merit, not just price. These are the ones I'd defend.
Left 4 Dead 2, EUR6.32 at G2A (-19%). Sixteen years old and still the cleanest four-player co-op shooter on PC. A 98% Steam rating across 1,035,450 reviews isn't nostalgia, it's a testament to netcode and pacing that most modern co-op still can't match. If you want a group game that works the moment everyone's in the lobby, start here.
HELLDIVERS 2, EUR6.67 at Eneba. The friendly-fire democracy simulator. Metacritic 83, and a Steam rating sitting at 75% of 1,142,292 reviews, which tells you the ride has been bumpy. At under seven euro, the entry cost is low enough that a rocky patch history stops mattering much. Grab three friends and it clicks.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege X, EUR12.49 at Eneba. The most demanding tactical shooter on this board and the priciest multiplayer pick here. Destructible walls, real gunplay consequence, a learning curve that punishes carelessness. If you want a competitive FPS with actual depth past the casual queue, this is the one on the list that earns the hours.
PAYDAY 2, EUR1.93 at Kinguin. Under two euro for a co-op heist shooter with a genuinely deep build system (Metacritic 79). It's dated and janky in places, but for the price it's the best cheap four-stack filler you can buy.
Dota 2, EUR6.46 at Kinguin. Free to play at its core, so paying six-ish euro here gets you a starter bundle rather than the game itself. Metacritic 90, and still the deepest 5v5 on the planet. Worth noting only if you specifically want the cosmetic package, otherwise the base game costs nothing.

By what you actually want
To shoot things with a squad Left 4 Dead 2 is the anchor: EUR6.32, 98% rating, works instantly. Pair it with PAYDAY 2 at EUR1.93 for heist nights and HELLDIVERS 2 at EUR6.67 when you want more chaos. If this group clicks and you're ready to spend a little more elsewhere, the natural next steps are Killing Floor 2 Steam key, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (PC) Steam Key, and Ready or Not (PC) Steam Key for a slower, tactical breach fantasy.
Free-to-play with a low buy-in Destiny 2 is free at the core, so the EUR0.72 and the EUR3.67 Legendary Edition (Steam 77% of 646,888 reviews) are content bundles on top, not the base game. Same logic on Apex Legends: Bloodhound Edition at EUR6, which is a cosmetics package sitting on a mixed 68% Steam rating. Only pay if you specifically want the extras. Otherwise these cost nothing to try.
Scares for a group Dead by Daylight is down to EUR6.69 at Eneba (-67%), and Phasmophobia at EUR9.52 is still the ghost-hunting standard (94% of 834,362 reviews). The Forest at EUR9.09 covers survival-horror co-op. Horror completists can also eye the Dead by Daylight - Stranger Things Edition Steam Key and the Resident Evil 4 (2005) Steam Key for a solo classic.
Sink-hundreds-of-hours sandbox Terraria at EUR2.08 is the value king and I won't shut up about it. Garry's Mod at EUR2.86 (Metacritic 93) is a whole hobby. ARK: Survival Evolved at EUR5.99 and Among Us at EUR0.99 round out the cheap-time-sink shelf. Survival diehards can branch into DayZ Steam key or SCUM Steam key later.
Single-player for when the ping is bad Even a multiplayer lifer needs a night off. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at EUR3.93 (-87%, Metacritic 93) is an absurd amount of game for the money. Red Dead Redemption 2 at EUR11.59 is the priciest pick here and worth every cent for the atmosphere. Stardew Valley (EUR6.36) and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (EUR9.42, -53%) are the decompression picks. Want a swing that scratches the same itch? Shadow of the Tomb Raider Steam key is a clean linear alternative.
The verdict
If you buy one thing off this page, make it Terraria. Nothing else on the board matches EUR2.08 against 97% approval from over 1.5 million players, and it'll outlast most of the pricier picks in raw hours played. If you're specifically here to shoot, Left 4 Dead 2 at EUR6.32 is the co-op pick I'd stake my name on. Neither will make you regret the spend.
Best value on the list, no contest: Terraria at EUR2.08. Grab it, wire up a friend, and go build something.
