Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
A 2012 medieval first-person slasher that trades guns for swords and still holds up as pure, chaotic melee combat fun.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
I spent my first hour in Chivalry thinking I'd loaded up some forgotten relic, but the combat won me over instantly. This is a first-person slasher built entirely around melee weapons - swords, axes, mauls, crossbows - in multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch and Siege that feel less like esports and more like controlled mayhem. The hit-feedback is weighty, directional blocking matters, and there's a learning curve that rewards patience without gatekeeping fun. What works: the level design encourages vertical play and environmental kills, the weapon variety creates genuine build decisions, and matches move at a pace that respects your time. What doesn't: the community is small (expect longer queue times), and the 2012 engine shows its age in animations and UI. But if you want medieval combat that feels thoughtful rather than arcade-y, and you're okay with a quieter server, this deserves a look.
