Subterra

Subterra is a lean indie adventure that doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. You descend into procedurally-generated caves, fight creatures in turn-based combat, grab loot, and upgrade your gear. The pixel art is functional rather than flashy, but the core loop of exploring deeper, hitting harder, and dealing with increasingly gnarly enemies actually works. It's the kind of game that respects your time without asking for 80 hours of your life. The lack of polish shows in rough edges around UI clarity and pacing, and there's not enough narrative meat here for story-focused players.
