About Street Fighter 6 Year 3 Character Pass (DLC)
I've been watching the Year 3 Character Pass community reaction since the Summer Game Fest reveal, and the honest read is this: the roster selection is genuinely exciting, but the release schedule is a slow burn that demands commitment upfront. You're buying four characters across roughly twelve months, which means you're placing trust in Capcom before most of the content is live. The character lineup itself is hard to argue with on paper. Sagat, the towering Muay Thai king, anchors the pass as the first arrival and immediately settles into the competitive meta as the kind of dominant zoner players either love or dread facing. C. Viper returns from Street Fighter IV with her high-mobility, tech-suit toolkit - electrifying attacks and burst movement that reward players willing to put in labwork. Alex, the grappling powerhouse who headlined Street Fighter III, brings brutal command grabs and power-style offense that sits at the opposite end of the spectrum from Viper's gadget-heavy rushdown. Then there is Ingrid, the pass's wildcard: a character originally created for a cancelled Capcom crossover project who has spent decades on the fringes of the franchise's canon. Her SF6 kit leans into sustained ranged pressure converted into aerial combos, and her trailer reception was considerably warmer than the controversy that surrounded Alex's story mode content at launch - which did prompt a Capcom patch. The community has had a bumpy ride with Year 3, but Ingrid closing the year on a positive note counts for something. The practical concern with this pass is structural. All four characters release sequentially across summer 2025 through late spring 2026, so if you grab it at launch you will wait until May 2026 to have a complete roster. Players hoping to main Alex faced the longest gap between reveals and release, and that spacing drew real complaints. The 3,000 Drive Tickets and Outfit 1 Colors 3-10 for each character are included, which softens the deal slightly for cosmetic-minded players, but it is a thin bonus layer compared to the Year 3 Ultimate Pass, which adds full Outfit 2 and 3 color sets plus an additional stage. Who should actually buy this? Committed SF6 players who already have a main and want to round out their knowledge of the roster, or anyone whose preferred classic fighter - Sagat, Viper, Alex, Ingrid - has been absent from the game. Casual players who dip in and out will likely find the drip-feed structure frustrating and may be better served waiting to buy characters individually once they release. The pass makes economic sense if at least two of the four characters genuinely interest you and you are already putting regular time into SF6's Fighting Ground or online ranked modes.
