About RE 2 / BIOHAZARD RE:2 Deluxe Weapon Samurai Edge + Jill Model
I want to be straight with you before you click buy: this is not a game. It is a single DLC handgun dropped into RE2 Remake's Item Box at the start of your run, and you should walk in knowing exactly that. The Samurai Edge (Jill Model) was originally a pre-order bonus that became paid DLC after its exclusivity window closed, and the transaction is that simple. So what do you actually get? The Jill Model variant of the Samurai Edge is a non-upgradeable handgun that seats 15 rounds and carries a distinct look from the standard version, featuring a black slide and a darker cyan S.T.A.R.S. medallion on the grip. Its documented mechanical edge over most sidearms is a quicker initial focus time, meaning your aim reticle closes in faster on first draw compared to the base Matilda. In practice, the community is divided on whether that translates to a felt difference in real play. The Chris Model's reticle recovers faster after each shot, which many players find more consistently useful, and the Wesker (Albert) Model is the go-to pick for players who want raw stopping power on Hardcore difficulty. The Jill Model sits in a quieter middle lane. It will not change how you survive the RPD. It will not unlock new routes, trigger new story beats, or add a mode. Where this does have genuine appeal is atmosphere. RE2 Remake is a game that rewards fans of the broader Resident Evil lore, and Jill Valentine's custom S.T.A.R.S.-issued pistol is a piece of that history. If you spent time with RE1 or RE3, pulling this out of the Item Box has a specific pleasure to it that is hard to quantify in stats. The model itself has a noted design quirk worth knowing: it more closely resembles the Samurai Edge A1 variant introduced in Revelations than Jill's original Raccoon City-era sidearm, which appears to trace back to an internal miscommunication at Capcom during development. Whether that bothers you depends on how deep your franchise knowledge runs. The blunt summary: if you already own RE2 Remake and want a bit of lore flavor and a marginally different aiming feel for a replay, this delivers exactly what it says. If you are hoping for gameplay significance, you will be underwhelmed. New players should also know this weapon spawns in the Item Box with no ammo, so your first few minutes still play out the same way regardless. Alex, Scout Team
