METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN - MB Coin 2000
The Phantom Pain's stealth sandbox is still one of the sharpest action games on PC, this coin pack hands you a shortcut to FOB expansion, nothing more, nothing less.
GamerScout Verdict
Only buy if you are actively expanding FOBs in MGSV online play, useless for single-player grinders and newcomers.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN - MB Coin 2000
I want to be straight with you before you click anything: this listing is not a game. It is 2000 MB Coins, an in-game currency for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN, purchasable once per Steam account. The Steam review score and Metacritic number you see attached to it belong to the base game, a genuinely excellent open-world stealth-action title. They say nothing about whether this coin pack is worth your money. So let me talk about both, clearly. The Phantom Pain itself holds up. The Fox Engine still produces a tactically rich sandbox where you can crawl through Afghan dust, Fulton-extract enemy soldiers mid-firefight, call in supply drops, and flip between D-Horse, D-Dog, and Quiet as your mission companion depending on whether you need enemy marking, stealth cover, or sniper overwatch. The reflex system gives newcomers a fighting chance when a guard catches a glimpse of you, while CQC interrogations, customisable loadouts across dozens of weapons, and dynamic day-night weather cycles reward players who dig into the systems. Main missions, Side Ops, and the Mother Base metagame, where you grow your private army, research new gear, and expand platform facilities, give the game a satisfying pull that keeps you going well past the fifty-hour mark. Where the game gets genuinely contentious is the story and the online component. The narrative, delivered largely through cassette tapes rather than the cinematic excess fans expected from Kojima, feels thin compared to earlier entries. The second act in particular leans on recycled mission objectives in ways that wear out their welcome. And then there is FOB mode, Forward Operating Bases, the online layer where other players can infiltrate your Mother Base and steal your resources while you are offline. This is precisely where MB Coins come in. The coins let you skip the grind for building out FOB platforms, specifically the water platforms, and with 2000 coins you can fund roughly three to four expanded FOBs. Community consensus is consistent: if you are going to spend MB Coins at all, spend them here and nowhere else. Using them to rush single-player R-and-D timers is widely considered a waste. So here is the honest evaluation. The base game absolutely deserves attention. The coin pack is an optional accelerant for a specific online progression loop, one that many players never engage with deeply, and one that you should understand before purchasing. If you are new to MGSV and have not yet sunk time into FOB mode, hold off. If you are already building out bases and hitting the grind wall on platform expansion, this pack does exactly what it says. One purchase per account, and the coins carry real utility in that specific context. Do not walk in expecting it to fix the story padding or finish the incomplete Chapter 2. It will not. It is currency. Spend it wisely.
