I spent most of Layers of Fear 2's runtime walking through claustrophobic ship corridors, watching reality fracture around me. You're an actor caught in a director's fever dream, and the game doesn't rush to explain what's happening. Instead, it builds atmosphere through environmental storytelling, distorted audio design, and rooms that reshape themselves when you're not looking. The core mechanic is simple: move forward, absorb the unease, piece together fragmented memories. It's deliberately paced, which means a lot of standing still and listening. If you need constant combat or puzzle solutions, this won't land. But if you're someone who sits with a game's mood, who lets sound design do half the work, Layers of Fear 2 rewards that patience with genuine unsettling moments and a final act twist that recontextualizes everything you've seen.
