GTA Online's entry-level cash injection gets you GTA$200,000 instantly, but the community verdict on Shark Cards is almost universally skeptical - read before you buy.

My honest take after years of watching the GTA Online economy balloon: the Tiger Shark Cash Card is the smallest rung on a ladder that Rockstar has been quietly raising since 2013. GTA$200,000 drops straight into your Maze Bank account the moment you boot into GTA Online after redeeming - no mission required, no waiting. That part works exactly as advertised. The problem is what GTA$200,000 actually buys you in 2025's Los Santos. To give some context: heists routinely pay out around $400,000 per hour of coordinated play, special cargo and vehicle missions sit around $300,000 per hour, and even VIP work clocks in at roughly $150,000 per hour. What that means is a reasonably active session can out-earn the Tiger Shark without spending a cent of real money. The card made more sense in 2013 when the economy was simpler and the grind loops were thinner. Today, GTA Online's content library - businesses, bunkers, nightclubs, the Terrorbyte, executive offices - all assumes you will be grinding. The Tiger Shark is barely a starting pistol for that race. The platform specifics matter too. This is the PS4 edition. The GTA$ it grants is locked to PS4's version of GTA Online and cannot transfer to PS5 or PC. If you have already upgraded to PS5, this key does nothing for you. Redemption itself is straightforward: the code goes through the PlayStation Network, and the cash appears in your character's account on next login. There are no bugs specific to this tier that are widely reported. Where the Tiger Shark does have a narrow use case: brand-new players who want to skip the painful first hour of penny-pinching before they can afford even a basic apartment (required to host heists) or a starting weapon loadout. Dropping $200k on a modest apartment and some gear can meaningfully reduce early-session friction. That is the honest ceiling for this card. Veterans, returning players with established characters, and anyone with a few free hours per week will get more value from simply running a couple of missions. The community has been vocal for years that Shark Cards sit at the controversial end of GTA Online's design, and the Tiger Shark - being the weakest paid option available - offers the least argument against that criticism. If you are on PS4, new to GTA Online, and want exactly one less frustrating opening hour, this does what it says. Just know the grind that follows will quickly dwarf what you paid for. Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
