Gentlemen!

Gentlemen is a scrappy indie action game from over a decade ago that doesn't take itself seriously for a second. The core loop is straightforward: bash enemies with whatever's handy, dodge when you can, and watch the game's British humor try to keep pace with the mayhem. Combat is loose and forgiving in a way that feels more goofy than intentional, but if you're the type who finds jank endearing rather than frustrating, there's a weird charm here. The problem is obvious: this is a 2013 indie project with all the rough edges that implies. The visuals are minimal, the difficulty curve is basically nonexistent, and the novelty of the humor wears thin fast. It's the kind of game you boot up for 20 minutes to goof around, not the kind that sticks with you. Worth a shot if you're hunting for forgotten weirdness and your standards are flexible, but don't expect depth or polish.
