Gangsters: Organized Crime
A 1998 crime-syndicate sim where you build a mob empire from the ground up. If you miss the era when strategy games had teeth and no tutorial hand-holding, this is your nostalgia hit.
GamerScout Verdict
Unpolished 1998 strategy gem for players who want mob empire-building with zero hand-holding and genuine consequences.

About Gangsters: Organized Crime
I went in expecting a spreadsheet wrapped in a mob skin, but Gangsters surprised me with its focus on actual street-level hustle. You're running protection rackets, brewing bootleg liquor, and muscling into territory control while cops and rival gangs push back. The UI is dense and definitely feels like 1998, but once it clicks, there's real depth: you hire crew members with individual stats, manage safe houses, dodge heat from law enforcement, and decide when to go loud versus subtle. The brutal part? There's no forgiving tutorial. You will lose money. Your guys will get busted. You'll get raided and wonder what you did wrong. That friction is the whole point, though. This is management sim that respects your intelligence and expects you to figure out consequences. It's rough around the edges and the isometric graphics have aged exactly as well as you'd expect, but if you're the type who bounced off modern UI bloat and want a strategy game that actually makes you think tactically, Gangsters delivers.
