About ACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS '99 (Xbox One)
I've spent enough time with King of Fighters '99 to know what you're getting: a 2-on-2 tag fighter from SNK's golden era, built around team synergy and strike-throw mixups. The roster is deep, the sprite work holds up, and if you like learning character synergy (buffing your partner's meter, chaining super moves), there's real meat here. Presentation-wise, it's a straight arcade emulation - no rebalancing, no online rollback netcode, just the original 1999 hardware experience running through HAMSTER's emulator layer. Catch: you'll need a arcade-stick mentality and a willingness to grind frame-data. The AI is brutal on higher difficulties, and without a local opponent or pixel-perfect timing, the novelty of nostalgia wears fast. Best suited for retro-fighting heads and SNK completionists, not newcomers.
