Few two-person studios have conjured a world this dense and this lonely. Hollow Knight is 40-plus hours of hand-drawn melancholy that will humble you, haunt you, and refuse to let go.

Stress kills faster than swords here, and your Vestal will crack before your Leper lands a hit. Whether that loop hooks you or breaks you is the only question worth asking.

Mechanically the best the series has ever felt, held back by villains so irritating they make Claptrap seem understated. Worth it for the guns and co-op chaos; don't come for the story.
