For 4X fans willing to overlook console UI friction and slow turns for classic-style conquest gameplay.

About Worlds of Magic: Planar Conquest
I approached Worlds of Magic expecting a spiritual successor to the 90s classic, and it tries hard to deliver that formula: hex-based tactical combat, wizard customization, spell research, and multi-plane conquest. The core loop is solid if you've got patience for lengthy turn animations and menus designed for mouse-and-keyboard that feel clunky on a controller. The real issue is execution. AI opponents are predictable, the UI feels sluggish, and there's not much to distinguish it from better-established 4X titles. It's playable if you crave deep strategy and don't mind rough edges, but there are smoother alternatives on console that deliver the same experience without the friction.
