About The Surge 1 & 2 - Dual Pack
I've spent enough time with The Surge games to respect what they're trying: a sci-fi take on limb-specific combat where you target enemy arms, legs, and weapons to harvest them as crafting material. It's a genuinely interesting twist on the Souls-like formula, and when the combat click happens, it feels satisfying. The second game smooths out some of the first's rough edges with better level design and pacing. That said, these are janky experiences. Animations feel stiff, the camera fights you in tight spaces, and the story won't win over anyone looking for narrative depth. But if you're the type who gets excited about finding a new arm augmentation or figuring out which limb to target for a rare implant drop, the Dual Pack offers two meaty action games that do their niche thing better than most budget titles. The level of player agency through surgical strikes makes the combat loop oddly engaging despite the rough presentation.
