I went in expecting a period piece with stealth mechanics and came away impressed by how much weight the narrative carries. A Plague Tale follows a brother and sister escaping the Inquisition across 14th-century France, and the game nails the sense of helplessness in a hostile world. The rat swarms aren't just set dressing, they're environmental puzzles that force you to think tactically about light and movement rather than just run-and-gun. Where it stumbles: the combat feels stiff when you're forced into it, and the pacing can lag in the middle hours. But if you're after a story-driven adventure that respects your intelligence and your time (it's a 5-6 hour campaign, not 100), the bundle is worth jumping in. Grab both games if the price feels right, since the sequel expands on everything that worked here.
