About SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection - Premium Pass
Let's be clear about what this is: a premium pass for SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection, not the base game itself. What you're buying grants access to two post-launch story expansions, the Ritual of Bonds Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, plus the Integrity Knights Costume Set. If you're already committed to the base game and you want more time in Underworld, this is how you get it. SAO Last Recollection is an action RPG set during the Alicization and War of Underworld arcs, which are widely considered the most narratively ambitious stretch of the SAO franchise. The base game leans into large-scale party combat, letting you swap between characters mid-fight and coordinate actions across a roster pulled from the anime. The Ritual of Bonds storylines appear to build on that foundation, adding new narrative content that continues threading the relationships between characters like Kirito, Alice, and the Knights who defined those arcs. For a series that lives or dies on whether you care about its cast, the framing around bonds and loyalty is at least thematically on-point. Here is the honest caveat though. With only a handful of reviews and no Metacritic score available, it is genuinely difficult to evaluate how substantial the Ritual of Bonds chapters actually are. SAO licensed games have a mixed history with DLC depth. Some expansions have delivered real emotional payoff for fans. Others have been thin fan-service padding dressed up as story. The Integrity Knights Costume Set is a cosmetic bonus, not a gameplay hook, so if you are weighing value, everything depends on how much those two story volumes deliver in actual content and writing quality. Who is this for? Primarily players who already finished Last Recollection and want more. If you came to that game as a longtime SAO fan who cried during the Alicization arc, the pull here is obvious. If you bounced off the base game's combat repetition or found the writing surface-level, no amount of DLC is going to fix those structural issues. The costume set is a nice touch for fans who care about character presentation, especially given that the Integrity Knights have some of the best visual designs the series has produced. As a pass, it makes most sense purchased alongside the base game rather than as a standalone afterthought. Story DLC for RPGs tends to land harder when the world is still fresh in your head. Waiting months, completing the main game, and then returning cold is rarely the ideal experience for character-driven content. Monika, Scout Team
