I've been following Caracal Games' work, and Star Overdrive is their most confident swing yet. You pilot a hoverboard across an alien world, chaining tricks and combat into a rhythm that feels genuinely alive when it clicks. The movement has real weight to it, and learning to chain boosts with puzzle solutions is satisfying in that understated indie way that AAA games have forgotten. The open world design respects your time, never forcing you into dialogue scenes you didn't ask for. What trips it up: the narrative doesn't earn its screen time, and some boss encounters feel like they're testing patience rather than skill. The 69 Metacritic sits right where it should, a solid, flawed gem that knows what it does well and doesn't pretend otherwise.
