About Robot Robert
Robot Robert drops you on an alien world where you'll platform and shoot your way through 2D combat encounters that clearly ape the Contra formula. The game doesn't hide its inspirations, which is fine if you're hunting for that run-and-gun aesthetic on a budget. The problem is execution: level design is functional but forgettable, enemy variety is thin, and the whole thing feels like it's coasting on nostalgia rather than building its own identity. It's serviceable as a weekend distraction if you've already exhausted the actual Contra catalog, but nothing here justifies seeking it out over those classics. Alien environments are colorful enough to look at, and the core loop of dodging and shooting works mechanically. Just don't expect surprises or moments that stick with you. This is the kind of game that exists, does its job adequately, and then vanishes from your backlog.
