Resident Evil: Resistance (PS4)

Dead by Daylight set the template for four-survivors-versus-one-killer, and Resistance follows it closely until the Mastermind role changes the math. Instead of chasing people down yourself, you sit on a CCTV grid dropping zombies, traps and cameras across three rooms, spending bio-energy like a card game while four Survivors sprint for keys and hack terminals against a countdown clock. Occasionally you possess a boss (Mr. X included) and get hands-on. It is a genuinely clever design, and playing Mastermind feels like running a tower defense in real time. The Survivor side is where it wobbles. Melee combat is stiff, the guns feel undertuned compared to the mainline games, and matches often decide themselves in the first two minutes based on whether your team knows the maps. Released in 2020 as a bundled companion to a bigger Capcom release, it never grew the population it needed, so queue times and matchmaking quality are the real barrier now. Worth a look if asymmetric multiplayer is your thing and you have friends to fill a lobby. Solo queue will test your patience.
