About Queen of the Otaku: THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE
I went in expecting a straightforward school romance and instead found myself reading a surprisingly zany visual novel about two manga-obsessed girls locked in absurd competition. Queen of the Otaku is short, lightweight, and doesn't pretend to be anything else. The premise is thin, but the character writing carries it, both heroines are defined by their specific, ridiculous takes on manga culture rather than generic anime tropes. Dialogue is snappy and self-aware. There's not much to sink your teeth into mechanically; this is pure reading with occasional choices that barely matter to the outcome. If you're hunting for emotional depth or branching narrative, keep walking. But if you want 2-3 hours of oddball fun with genuinely likable characters, it's a solid weekend read for the right mood.
