About Hypno-Mart
I picked up Hypno-Mart expecting a slice-of-life story about convenience store work, and it delivers that for exactly as long as it needs to before pulling the rug out. You play as a blonde-dyed part-timer working nights, and the early hours are deliberately routine - stocking shelves, handling customers, clocking in alongside your coworker. The writing nails that exhausted, detached tone of late-night retail, which makes the shift into unsettling territory hit harder when it lands. The game's strength is restraint. It doesn't overstay its welcome, wrapping up in a couple of hours with a premise that's creepy without being graphic. If you like visual novels that trust the reader to fill in blanks and prefer atmosphere over exposition, this is worth the time. It's not a landmark title, but it does one small thing well: making a fluorescent-lit convenience store feel genuinely uncanny.
