About QUAKE III Arena + Team Arena
Quake III Arena is id Software's uncompromising multiplayer-first shooter, and it shows. No campaign, no narrative wrapper. You pick a character, jump into a deathmatch or team arena, and either out-strafe your opponents or get fragged. The gunplay is snappy, the map design rewards positioning and item control, and the skill ceiling is genuinely high. Matches are fast, tight, and decided by reaction time and map knowledge rather than loadout grinding. The catch: it's 2000 design. No tutorials, minimal onboarding, and the baseline difficulty assumes you've played Quake II. Modern players expecting campaign tutorials or matchmaking progression will bounce hard. Team Arena (the bundled expansion) tries objective modes but feels bolted-on. If you're after pure arena combat without progression systems or cosmetics, this is the real deal. If you need structure, move on.
