I spent a couple hours with Prince of Wallachia expecting a straightforward action romp, and instead found something more introspective. It's a single-player platformer built around exploration and deliberate pacing rather than twitch reflexes. The levels breathe with historical atmosphere, rendered in clean pixel art that feels respectful to its setting. You navigate as the Prince through scenarios inspired by real Wallachian history, though the design philosophy is clearly about mood over accuracy. The game knows what it is and doesn't overstay. It's short, focused, and intentional about every screen. If you're looking for a fast-paced action platformer with boss rushes, this isn't it. But if you appreciate when a small indie game trusts you to sit with its atmosphere and let the setting do the heavy lifting, there's genuine craft here in the pacing and the art direction.
