About Obscuritas
I went in expecting standard haunted-house mystery fare. Obscuritas surprised me by leaning hard into cosmic horror and occult aesthetics, building dread through environmental storytelling rather than jump scares. You're exploring your inherited manor, uncovering rituals and artifacts, piecing together what your family was actually mixed up in. The pixel art is moody, the puzzle design feels old-school without being obtuse, and there's real care in the world-building even if the scope is modest. It's rough around the edges - the Metacritic score reflects that there are pacing issues and some clunky moments. But if you're the type who loved the original Blackwell games or enjoys slow-burn adventure gaming with occult themes, this scratches that itch for cheap. Don't expect polish or mass appeal. Do expect a peculiar, absorbing few hours.
