A small DLC pack for NBA 2K19 that hands you 5,000 Virtual Currency, 10 weekly MyTEAM packs, and a Sapphire Giannis card the moment you log in. Base game required.

Let's be straight about what this is: a preorder bonus DLC, not a game. If you already own NBA 2K19 on Steam and somehow missed the preorder window, this pack exists to hand you a starter kit of in-game resources that you would have received automatically at launch had you bought early. That is the entire pitch. What you get is 5,000 Virtual Currency, 10 MyTEAM packs delivered one per week when you log into MyTEAM mode, and a Sapphire-tier Giannis Antetokounmpo MyTEAM card. The VC is useful for nudging your MyPLAYER's stats a little earlier in the grind, since NBA 2K19's progression system is notoriously slow by design. The MyTEAM packs drip in over ten weeks, so do not expect a roster-building windfall on day one. The Giannis card is a decent starter piece for MyTEAM lineups, though the mode's card power curve moves fast enough that his value there fades as you play. Now, the honest context. NBA 2K19 as a base game is a genuinely strong basketball sim. The on-court gameplay is the best the series had been up to that point, with the Takeover system rewarding hot streaks across nine archetypes including sharpshooter, playmaker, and lockdown defender. MyCareer's "The Way Back" story mode is a real step up in production. Split-screen is listed and works for couch sessions. The Neighborhood open-world hub was cleaned up and less maze-like. For four friends on a Saturday, the quick-game and blacktop options hold up fine, and casual players can still have a blast even if the sim difficulty punishes hero-ball attempts hard. That said, the one consistent criticism across the community was the microtransaction ecosystem. VC is the currency for everything, and the grind without spending extra money is deliberately slow. This DLC's 5,000 VC takes a small edge off that grind. It is a band-aid, not a cure. One important heads-up for anyone eyeing this in 2025 or later: the online multiplayer servers for NBA 2K19 have been shut down. That kills Park, online MyTEAM matchmaking, and online Neighborhood activity entirely. MyCareer's offline story, local split-screen exhibition games, MyLeague, and offline MyTEAM deck-building all still work. If you are buying the base game purely for offline play and local co-op, it still has legs. The DLC then becomes a minor quality-of-life addition for that offline grind. If online was the draw, neither the base game nor this DLC makes much sense at this point. Bottom line on the DLC itself: only pick this up if you are already committed to NBA 2K19 on PC, you want the Giannis card for offline MyTEAM, and the 5,000 VC head start matters to you. It is supplemental content doing supplemental content things. Riley, Scout Team
