About Mahjong Deluxe 2: Astral Planes Key
I've seen plenty of mahjong implementations, and Mahjong Deluxe 2 leans hard on the astral/space aesthetic without adding much mechanical depth. The core loop is standard: match pairs of identical tiles to clear the board, working through hundreds of puzzles rendered in 3D space. If you've played any mahjong game in the last decade, you know exactly what to expect here. The 50% Steam score tells you the real story. The puzzles themselves aren't bad, but they're not novel either, and the presentation doesn't compensate for the lack of innovation. There's no twist on the formula, no clever progression systems, and plenty of better mahjong games available for free or cheaper. If you're specifically hunting for a casual 3D mahjong experience and have already exhausted every other option, this works. Otherwise, there's nothing here that justifies the purchase.
