Hidden Shapes Old West - Jigsaw Puzzle Game
A micro-budget puzzle session from a tiny Brazilian studio that earns its keep as screen-off, brain-off decompression -- if you go in knowing exactly what it is.

About Hidden Shapes Old West - Jigsaw Puzzle Game
I have a soft spot for the kind of game that fits entirely in a lunch break and asks absolutely nothing of you except to click things into place -- and Hidden Shapes Old West is squarely that. YAW Studios is a small indie outfit out of Brazil, and this entry in their Hidden Shapes series takes the format they have been quietly building across multiple releases and skins it in frontier Americana: cowboys, desert vistas, and all the warm ochres and dusty reds that come with the territory. The hand-drawn art style is the main reason anyone picks this up, and it does hold up. The illustrations have a flat, minimalist quality that reads more like letterpress print design than digital illustration, which gives the finished puzzles a character you won't find in the usual photograph-based jigsaw fare. The core loop is simple to the point of being almost meditative. Pieces are scattered across the screen, each one needing to be rotated and placed onto the silhouette of the target shape. There is no timer pushing you, no penalty system nipping at your heels. Once a puzzle is solved, the full completed artwork unlocks and can be revisited at any point -- a small but thoughtful touch that lets the art breathe as its own reward rather than just a loading screen you pass through. The soundtrack was composed specifically for the game by Caue Lemes, and it carries that dusty, unhurried quality you would want playing in the background during a late-afternoon session. It does not overstay its welcome. Honesty requires flagging the obvious ceiling. This is not a game that challenges you. A one-YouTube-video reviewer summed it up aptly: rotating pieces for a moment or two is usually all it takes to solve any given puzzle. The pieces do not resist you. If you arrive expecting the spatial logic workout of a traditional jigsaw, or any mechanical depth whatsoever, you will bounce off in under ten minutes. The content volume is also modest -- this is a sub-two-hour experience on any reasonable pace, probably shorter, which is fine when the price point reflects it but worth knowing before you click anything. Where the game succeeds is in its single-mindedness. It does not try to add timers, leaderboards, or progression systems that would muddy the quiet it is trying to create. The 100% all-achievements run is achievable in one sitting, which the Steam community treats as a feature rather than a flaw. As part of a broader series that now spans animals, cats, pirates, and other themes, Old West sits comfortably in the middle of the pack -- the art theme has genuine warmth, and if frontier aesthetics resonate with you personally, it edges out some of the other entries purely on atmosphere. YAW Studios is a responsive team that treats player feedback seriously, which counts for something on a release this small. Kai, Scout Team
