Geometric Sniper - Z
YAW Studios takes their hand-drawn sniper formula, adds zombies, resource management, and a Runaway mode where you play as the undead, and somehow it works better than it has any right to.

About Geometric Sniper - Z
I have a soft spot for small studios that iterate quietly on their own formula rather than chasing whatever is trending, and YAW Studios is exactly that kind of outfit. Geometric Sniper - Z is the zombie-flavored offshoot of their original Geometric Sniper series, and it carries the same unmistakable visual DNA: a stark black-and-white hand-drawn world where the only color is the red that appears when you connect a shot. That contrast, cartoonish geometry against a sudden splash of crimson, is still a genuinely striking visual choice, and it gives the whole thing a macabre charm that a lot of bigger zombie games never bother to cultivate. The core loop asks you to work through a story-driven mission mode, picking off zombies and protecting survivors while managing your money and ammunition between runs. You can carry two weapons at once, and the gun store gives you enough variety that you will want to experiment rather than just defaulting to your starting rifle. There are mutant zombies with special abilities scattered through the missions, which adds a small layer of read-the-room decision-making on top of the otherwise straightforward point-and-shoot rhythm. Side missions let you farm resources to reinforce your main run, so there is a light economy loop underneath the shooting that keeps sessions feeling purposeful rather than aimless. The avatar customization, skin shop, and even a pet system feel like genuine additions rather than padding, which is more than you can say for most games in this price tier. The mode that genuinely surprised me is Runaway, a role-reversal where you play as a zombie trying to devour as many brains as possible before the sniper catches up with you. It is a small thing mechanically, but it reframes the entire tone in a way that feels inventive for a casual title. Steam leaderboard support means there is a competitive angle for score chasers too, though with a modest player count, do not expect heated rivalry at the top. The soundtrack, composed by Caue Lemes of the band Dongo Dongo, is worth mentioning separately because YAW Studios treats it as a standalone artifact, offering it as a separate DLC. That tells you something about how much the studio believes in the atmosphere they built. The honest caveats: this is a short game, clearly designed for sessions measured in minutes rather than hours. The shooting mechanics are fairly shallow, and anyone coming in expecting precision-sim sniper satisfaction will bounce off it quickly. Steam user reception sits at around 77% positive from a small sample, which feels accurate rather than enthusiastic. It is a game that knows its lane and mostly stays in it. Where it occasionally slips is in the aiming feel, which can be imprecise in a way that frustrates rather than challenges, a criticism that has followed the series since its early entries. If you already appreciate the original Geometric Sniper and want a looser, goofier companion piece with a zombie coat of paint and a few clever mode additions, this delivers exactly that without overstaying its welcome.
