About Fantasy Sliding Puzzle 2 - ArtBook
I'll be straight with you: I picked this up expecting almost nothing, and that honesty is the only fair starting point for a game like this. Fantasy Sliding Puzzle 2 is EGC Games' second entry in a now five-part series of classic tile-sliding puzzles, each one a self-contained set of 12 images across three grid sizes: the gentle 3x3 for a two-minute wind-down, the mid-weight 4x4 that takes actual spatial reasoning, and the 5x5 which, if you've never done a 5x5 slider before, will quietly humiliate you before you find your footing. The images themselves are fantasy-themed illustrations of female characters alongside painted background scenes, styled somewhere between trading card art and light fantasy cover illustration. The clothing is flagged by Steam as suggestive, so go in with that expectation calibrated. The loop is simple and deliberately so: pick a puzzle, pick a difficulty, shuffle, solve. A timer runs in the corner and your fastest completions feed into leaderboards if you care about competing. There is also a gallery that unlocks each image once you've solved it, which I found to be the most honest design decision here. It gives you a reason to clear a puzzle properly rather than rage-quit halfway, and seeing the full image reward after wrestling with a scrambled 5x5 does produce a small, real satisfaction. Steam achievements are present and will pop naturally as you work through the set. None of this is sophisticated, but it is complete. The feature set does exactly what it says, nothing is broken or missing, and that counts for something in a corner of the store where half the games in this tier ship with placeholder UI. The soundtrack deserves a small moment. It is ambient, looping fantasy music, the kind that sits just below conscious attention, which is precisely where puzzle game music belongs. It does not overstay itself, it does not loop with an obvious seam that grates after fifteen minutes, and the tone matches the illustrated mood without overselling it. Small craft, noticed. Where this stumbles is volume and replayability. Twelve puzzles is the full content offering. At the 5x5 difficulty, a focused session clears all of them in under two hours. If leaderboard chasing or personal-best speedrunning is not your thing, the replay case evaporates quickly. The game also sits in a series where every entry follows the identical structure, so if you have played the first Fantasy Sliding Puzzle, you have already seen this exact product once. EGC built a template and populated it with new art per installment rather than iterating on the mechanics, which is a transparent production model. Players who want genuine puzzle variety or any mechanical progression will be frustrated; players who simply want a calm, low-noise activity dressed in decent illustration art will find it agreeable. As an indie advocate, I can say this: the series knows its audience and does not pretend otherwise. At its typical price point and the discounts it regularly hits, Fantasy Sliding Puzzle 2 is an honest transaction. You are buying a small visual puzzle with a gentle soundtrack and a timer. If that is the gap you need filling on a slow afternoon, it fills it cleanly. Kai, Scout Team
