About Athena Trivia
I want to be straight with you: Athena Trivia is not trying to be Trivial Pursuit on Steam, and it does not pretend otherwise. What EGC Games put together is a compact solo quiz session - 100 questions spread across 10 subject categories covering territory from geography and history through to science and pop culture - built for a single sitting with low ceremony and a clear purpose. Whether that compact footprint is a feature or a flaw depends entirely on what you are walking in expecting. The mechanical hook is simple and honest. You pick a question, you select your answer, and the scoring system rewards speed as well as accuracy - slower correct answers bank fewer points than fast ones, which gives even straightforward questions a quiet urgency. Where this design earns real credit is in what happens after you answer: right or wrong, you get a written explanation of the correct response. That is a small but genuinely thoughtful touch. Most cheap trivia games treat the reveal as a full stop. Athena Trivia treats it as a starting point. The questions themselves are reportedly original, not scraped from public trivia databases, which shows at least some editorial care from the developer. That said, the ceiling on this experience is not hiding anywhere. One hundred questions is a finite pool with no randomisation of order reported by the community - players in Steam discussions noted they could sequence the answers from memory after a single run, and a community-posted answer guide appeared almost immediately after launch. There is a DLC that simply sells you all the correct answers, which is a strange piece of design philosophy to put your name on. The score leaderboard adds a thin competitive pulse, but without more question volume or a rotation system, replayability is genuinely thin. This is a one-to-two session game and it knows it. For who, then? Athena Trivia makes quiet sense as a warmup tool - something to run on a lunch break, a low-stakes knowledge self-test, or a light achievement hunt. The system requirements are featherweight, it runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and the interface asks nothing of you technically. Expecting a robust quiz platform here will leave you cold. Expecting a modest, earnest little knowledge game that respects your time and occasionally teaches you something odd about the Sargasso Sea - that expectation it can meet. Kai, Scout Team
