About EVERSPACE - Encounters (DLC)
EVERSPACE is a roguelite space shooter that fuses tight arcade-style combat with procedurally generated sectors, resource scavenging, and a surprisingly earnest narrative thread pulling you forward run after run. The Encounters DLC layers onto that foundation with new NPC characters you actually meet repeatedly across runs, giving the lonely void a bit more human texture. These are not throwaway side missions - they carry their own arcs, and if you care about the base game's story momentum, they slot in naturally rather than feeling bolted on. The combat loop in EVERSPACE is fast and physical. You manage ship energy between weapons, shields, and boosters in real time, and the Encounters content introduces new faction interactions that can shift how a sector plays out. Whether you are flying the Fighter, Interceptor, or Colonial Gunship, the new encounters feed you fresh context for why you keep dying and respawning through cloned pilot logic. The DLC does not reinvent anything - it deepens grooves already worn into the game. Where ROCKFISH earns genuine respect is in the atmosphere. The nebulae, asteroid fields, and derelict stations are lit with a painter's sense of color, and the sound design keeps the silence of space feeling weighty rather than empty. Encounters preserves that quality. The new voice-acted characters have personality, and a few moments land with the quiet punch that smaller productions sometimes pull off better than blockbusters. The honest limitations are worth naming. The roguelite structure means progress can feel slow if you run into a luck drought, and the Encounters content is not substantial enough to justify the purchase on its own for someone who has not already bonded with the base game. Returners who burned through the original and wanted more reasons to revisit - this is aimed squarely at you. New players should start with the base game and let the DLC be a natural next step once the loop has its hooks in. If you have a soft spot for indie studios building handcrafted worlds in genres usually dominated by massive budgets, ROCKFISH's care shows in every sector transition and cockpit hum. Encounters is a smaller gift to a game that deserved more attention than it got. Kai, Scout Team
