Edna & Harvey: The Breakout Anniversary Edition

I spent my first hour wondering if Edna & Harvey was trying to be funny or genuinely unsettling, and honestly, it's both in ways that don't always cohere. You play as Edna, a young woman in an asylum, guided by Harvey, a talking stuffed bunny who may or may not be a figment of her fractured mind. The premise has teeth, but the execution leans hard into slapstick and absurdist humor that feels dated even for a 2013 rerelease. What saves it is the craftsmanship. The hand-drawn backgrounds are beautiful and claustrophobic, each asylum room dripping with deliberate detail. Point-and-click puzzle design is straightforward enough to avoid frustration, and the voice acting sells Edna's sardonic delivery. It's a short game that knows when to exit, which is its greatest strength. If you're hunting for a slow-burn psychological adventure with weird mascot energy and don't mind humor that swings and misses occasionally, this scratches that itch. Just don't expect it to be dark in the way the premise promises.
