Demon Hunter 4: Riddles of Light

I've got a soft spot for these Artifex Mundi hidden-object adventure games, and Demon Hunter 4 is exactly what the series does well: lean into atmosphere and mystery over mechanical complexity. You're playing Dawn Ashmoore investigating supernatural events tied to Egyptian mythology, which gives the whole thing a decent thematic spine. The puzzles are straightforward point-and-click fare, the kind where you're hunting for items, combining objects, and unlocking new areas by talking to NPCs and solving environmental riddles. What works is the story pacing and the audio-visual presentation. The hand-drawn art has character, and it moves at a deliberate pace that rewards patience. What doesn't work, if you're the type who needs constant momentum, is that this is fundamentally a slow-burn adventure game from 2018 with no combat or real tension. If you bounced off Artifex Mundi's other titles, this won't change your mind. But if you want a relaxing few hours following a supernatural mystery without jumping puzzles or time pressure, this scratches that specific itch.
