Skip the piecemeal unlocks, this DLC hands you all 20 fighters in DOA6's free-to-play shell at once. One purchase, full roster access.

Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters is the free base version of DOA6, which launches you into the game with a stripped-down character selection. Koei Tecmo's logic is simple: try before you buy, then pay to unlock who you actually want to play. The 20 Character Set cuts through that drip-feed entirely, giving you the full roster of twenty fighters in one go rather than asking you to buy characters individually or wait for rotating free trials. DOA6 itself is a 3D arena fighter built around its "Break Gauge" system, which rewards you for taking hits as well as landing them. The guard break, power blow, and fatal rush mechanics layer on top of the classic four-button (punch, kick, hold, throw) framework the series has always used. It is accessible enough for newcomers to have fun immediately, but there is real depth in the hold counter system if you want to study frame data and conditioning. Characters range from the long-running staples like Kasumi, Hayabusa, and Jann Lee, through to newer additions, and each plays distinctly enough that roster access genuinely matters for finding your main. The honest caveat here is that the 20 Character Set is the roster as it stood at a specific point in DOA6's lifecycle. Post-launch DLC characters, including the crossover guests and season pass fighters added later, are not included. If you want a complete competitive roster, you will need to account for those separately. For casual and offline play, though, twenty characters is a solid working pool, covering most playstyles from grapplers to rush-down strikers to the series' signature defensive ninjas. Who is this for? Players who downloaded Core Fighters, discovered they actually like the game, and do not want to spend time cherry-picking characters one by one. It is also the more economical path if you want to play locally with friends across a range of matchups rather than both parties being stuck with the same small free rotation. The split-screen and online PvP modes are both present in Core Fighters, so having a wider character pool directly improves those sessions. What it is not is a reason to try DOA6 if you have not yet decided whether you like it. Core Fighters is free, so the right move is always to test the game first, find a character or two in the trial pool, and then decide if 20 Character Set unlocks something you actually want. As utility DLC goes it is transparent about what it does, and it does that one thing cleanly. Alex, Scout Team
