DARK SOULS II Crown of the Sunken King
Shulva's vertical, elevator-puzzle sprawl is the best level FromSoft built for DS2. The gank corridors around it are the tax you pay to see it.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it for Shulva's vertical puzzle-city and the Sinh fight, if you can stomach a few cheap ambush corridors.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About DARK SOULS II Crown of the Sunken King
Shulva, Sanctum City is the single best piece of level design in Dark Souls II, and this DLC exists to justify it. It's a sunken vertical city you rebuild as you explore, hitting switches that raise and drop entire structures until shortcuts fold back on themselves in a way DS2 proper never managed. Poison chokes the lower reaches, hidden paths reward anyone who actually looks up, and Elana and Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon give you two very different late-game fights. Sinh in particular is the dragon DS2 needed: fast, poison-drenched, and readable once you stop panicking. What it isn't is consistently fair. Certain corridors stack invisible archers, poison statues, and three-deep enemy packs in a way that reads as difficulty by attrition rather than design, and one of the optional bosses is gated behind co-op summoning that's awkward to arrange years later. Come in overleveled and it deflates; come in around the intended late-game curve and it's the sharpest Dark Souls II ever gets. Bring poison resistance and patience.
