Ninety-four percent positive on Steam tells most of the story, but the real sell is how elegantly a single sliding-cube mechanic scales from obvious to genuinely brain-bending across 100 levels.

My instinct with sub-five-dollar puzzle games is skepticism, and Colorful Recolor earned about thirty seconds of that skepticism before the core mechanic clicked and I stopped keeping score. You control a small cube, slide it in one of four cardinal directions, and it keeps moving until it hits a wall. The catch: the cube can only survive contact with a wall that shares its current color. Land on the wrong surface and the level resets instantly. That one rule, held up to the light, turns out to have a lot of facets. The 100 levels are split into five chapters, each named after a dominant color and each introducing at least one new interactive element on top of the base sliding logic. By the mid-game you are sequencing moves around color-blob pickups, color-matched locks and keys, teleporters, and directional switches, sometimes all in the same room. What community reviewers consistently praise, and what I'd agree with, is that the difficulty curve is honest rather than punishing. Each new mechanic gets one dedicated introduction level, then the game trusts you to figure out how it stacks with everything before it. There is no extended hand-holding, no repeated tutorial pop-ups, just a single example and then the real problem. That is rarer than it should be in 2022 puzzle design. The trial-and-error element is the one thing worth flagging before you commit. Because your cube slides until it hits something, reading the correct path is not always possible on first glance. Some late-chapter levels, particularly toward levels 85 and above based on player discussion, require multiple restarts simply to map the space before you can even form a plan. Players looking for pure deduction with zero execution roulette may find that mildly frustrating. It does not undermine the game, but it sets expectations accurately. The visuals are bright pixel art, controls are tight and responsive, and the 8-bit ambient soundtrack stays out of the way rather than overstaying its welcome. Hardware requirements are minimal, so this runs on basically anything. As a sequel to Gagonfe's earlier Colorful Colore, this entry expands the element count, level total, and general polish compared to its predecessor. If you bounced off the first one for being too short, Recolor addresses that complaint directly. There is no mod ecosystem, no leaderboard worth mentioning, and no multiplayer, so the depth ceiling is exactly what the 100-level count implies. For the price bracket it occupies, that ceiling is fair. Diego, Scout Team
