I picked up Chaos Control expecting either a hidden gem or a curiosity piece, and honestly got both. You're piloting a space fighter through fantastical 3D environments rendered in a distinct manga-influenced art style, with multiple mission-based levels that lean into arcade sensibilities rather than modern sim complexity. The core loop is straightforward: fly, shoot, survive, move to the next flashy set piece. What works is the commitment to its own aesthetic. The full-screen 3D environments and cyberculture theming give it personality that most modern arcade-style shooters abandon. What doesn't: the UI feels clunky, mission structure is repetitive, and there's no depth to the progression or difficulty curve. This is a game that exists in a weird space where it's too niche for casual players but too simple for genre specialists. If you're the kind of person who genuinely misses straightforward space shooters and isn't bothered by production values that scream "mid-tier 2018 indie," Chaos Control delivers exactly what it promises.
