Drakkhen
A budget-tier RPG that wears its 1989 PC roots on its sleeve, built on a solid dungeon-crawling foundation but held back by a cramped interface and grinding tedium.
GamerScout Verdict
A faithful retro crawl for patient dungeon-delvers willing to overlook archaic UI for puzzle-solving depth.

About Drakkhen
I went in expecting a primitive relic and got... a surprisingly functional dungeon crawler. Drakkhen has you leading four heroes across an island to stop a dragon invasion, with tile-based exploration, turn-based combat, and a puzzle-heavy structure that actually clicks once you stop fighting the UI. The spell roster and character builds have enough variety to keep dungeon runs interesting, and there's genuine satisfaction in mapping out a puzzle chamber and executing it cleanly. What kills it is the grind. Early combat demands repetitive stat-leveling that feels padded, and the inventory system is so cramped you'll spend more time juggling items than adventuring. The writing is functional but forgettable, and there's no narrative payoff that makes the slog worth it. If you loved classic SSI Gold Box games and have patience for clunky ergonomics, Drakkhen scratches that itch. Everyone else should pass.
