Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
A grim ghost-hunting RPG where the combat is merely fine and the moral verdicts are the entire point. Best if you want a slow story game that makes you uncomfortable with your own calls.
GamerScout Verdict
For players who want choice-driven story over sharp combat, and can forgive repetitive zones to see the verdicts through.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Vampyr asked you to decide who lives in a city you'd grown fond of. Banishers takes that same judgment loop somewhere colder: a bleak New England winter, and a couple where one of you is already dead. You play both. Red swings steel and a rifle, Antea hits with spectral force that staggers what his blade cannot, and you tag between them mid-fight. The combat is competent, not deep. The real system is the haunting cases. Each one ends with a verdict: ascend the spirit, banish it, or blame the living person responsible, which means killing them. Those choices stack and change the ending, and the investigations are slow, wordy, and uncomfortable in the good way. The writing between the two leads is better than the fights deserve. The open areas are pretty but repetitive, the loot and skill trees are forgettable, and the final stretch drags. Come for the verdicts and the couple, not the swordplay.
