Backrooms Cats and Lava

I spent about an hour with Backrooms Cats and Lava, and it's exactly what the title promises: a small-scale action-platformer built around a single mechanic. You guide a character through tight spaces, shifting boxes to create climbable paths while lava inches upward behind you. The pressure is real, and when the physics cooperates, there's genuine tension in those last-second escapes. The catch is that the game leans hard on trial-and-error. Most puzzles don't telegraph solutions clearly, so you'll die, restart, and try again until you stumble onto the right box sequence. If you're into that grinding, meditative rhythm, it works. If you want clear feedback or elegant level design, you'll bounce off quickly. It's a niche game for a niche mood, and it knows it.
