About Attack on Titan 2 - Final Battle Upgrade Pack (DLC)
Attack on Titan 2 is a third-person action game built around the anime's signature vertical maneuvering equipment, and this Final Battle Upgrade Pack is the DLC that completes the package. If you have played the base game and wanted the story to push further into the later arcs, this is the expansion that does it. It adds the Final Battle story mode covering the Marley arc, new playable characters including Reiner, Bertholdt, and others from the Warrior unit, and the Thunder Spear as a usable weapon alongside the standard omni-directional mobility gear. Those additions shift the combat feel noticeably, since the spears hit harder on armored targets and reward a different kind of positioning than pure blade work. The core loop here is still the same: swing across environments at speed, target Titan napes, and chain kills to maintain momentum. The base game already nailed that satisfying rhythm, and nothing in this upgrade breaks it. What the Final Battle content does is widen the roster and give existing fans more story missions to grind through. Online co-op and PvP modes carry over, so the multiplayer side gets a shot in the arm from the extra characters, which is worth noting if you have friends still active on the game. Where this stumbles is in everything outside the action. Cutscenes are heavy and frequent, mission variety is thin, and the game rarely asks you to do anything other than kill Titans in slightly different arenas. If you bounced off the base game for those reasons, the DLC does not fix them. It is an expansion that rewards people already bought in, not a redemption arc for skeptics. The adjustable difficulty and online co-op support do make it accessible for a range of players, and the sheer fan-service value for anyone following the anime through the Marley arc is real. As a standalone purchase this pack makes no sense since it requires the base game, but as a completion layer for AoT 2 owners who want more of the same with a few genuine upgrades, it delivers exactly what it promises and nothing more.
