Warlords Battlecry 2
A cult strategy-RPG hybrid where you build a hero, recruit an army, and conquer campaign maps in turn-based skirmishes. Perfect for players who want more character progression than a traditional RTS.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for turn-based tactics fans who want meaningful character builds to carry across a full campaign.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Warlords Battlecry 2
Warlords Battlecry 2 sits in that weird space where strategy and RPG DNA intertwine. You create a hero with class, skills, and gear that carry across missions, then march them and hired mercenaries through turn-based tactical battles on grid maps. It's not real-time, so no twitch reflexes required. The core loop is satisfying: level up, equip better gear, recruit stronger units, and tackle harder enemy armies. The campaign map feels lean compared to modern 4X games, but that's intentional. The draw here is the character progression and the way your hero's build (mage? paladin? ranger?) fundamentally changes how you approach each skirmish. Don't expect flashy graphics or a story that grabs you. The interface is clunky by modern standards, and the AI isn't brilliant. But if you want a turn-based tactical game where your character matters as much as your unit positioning, and you're okay with 2000s-era presentation, this scratches an itch that few games still do.
