Train Simulator: West Somerset Railway Route Add-On
Twenty miles of Somerset branch line where your whole job is judging brake application against a timetable. Slow, fussy, and weirdly absorbing if that clicks.
GamerScout Verdict
For Train Simulator veterans who want a compact line to drill stopping accuracy on. Not a starting point.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Train Simulator: West Somerset Railway Route Add-On
The defining mechanic here is the brake, and everything else bends around it. West Somerset gives you roughly 20 miles of heritage running with short platforms, gentle gradients and stopping patterns tight enough that a two-second late application means you overshoot and blow the timing for the rest of the run. There is no top speed to chase. The decision loop is entirely about reading distance markers, feathering the steam brake, and learning where each station wants you to start slowing. Steam locomotives make that harder in the good way, because you are also managing the fire and the regulator while you plan the stop. Who it is for: existing Train Simulator owners who want a short, repeatable line to drill precision driving on, not newcomers hoping a route add-on will teach them the sim. The tutorial burden sits entirely on the base game, which is a real problem if you have not already learned the controls elsewhere. Scenario Editor and Steam Workshop support extend the lifespan well past the shipped scenarios, and that mod pipeline is honestly the strongest argument for the purchase. Outside that niche, twenty miles of branch line is a thin proposition.
