Tex Murphy: Overseer
A point-and-click mystery where you play as hard-boiled detective Tex Murphy, investigating a wealthy woman's claim that her father's death wasn't suicide. Lean on dialogue trees and detective work, not combat.
GamerScout Verdict

About Tex Murphy: Overseer
I went in expecting a straightforward whodunit, and Overseer delivers exactly that. You're Tex Murphy, a noir detective taking on a case that starts with a dead millionaire and a suspicious daughter. The game lives or dies by its dialogue system and investigation mechanics, where you talk to suspects, gather clues, and piece together what actually happened. It's all clicking hotspots, reading dialogue, and following threads. The writing is earnest enough to carry you through, and there's a real mystery to solve rather than a predetermined ending. What works is the focus. No combat, no padding, just investigation and conversation. What doesn't is that the whole experience is pretty lean by modern standards, which honestly suits a niche detective game. If you loved the original Tex Murphy games or you're starved for straightforward point-and-click mysteries, this scratches that itch. But if you're looking for production values or voice acting spectacle, keep walking.
