Surviving the Aftermath: New Alliances
A post-apocalyptic colony manager with diplomacy mechanics that struggles to justify its mid-game tedium despite solid survival fundamentals.
GamerScout Verdict
For patient managers only; solid survival loop undermined by grinding late-game pacing and shallow faction AI.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Surviving the Aftermath: New Alliances
I've logged enough hours in Paradox sims to recognize when a game has good bones but poor pacing. Surviving the Aftermath: New Alliances wraps base-building, resource management, and faction diplomacy into one package, but the execution stumbles where it matters most. Early game teaches you the loop cleanly: manage population, defend against threats, expand territory. The diplomacy angle is genuinely interesting on paper, letting you forge alliances or dominate rivals. Problem is, the mid-to-late game grinds. Micromanagement bloat kills momentum, AI factions feel passive rather than threatening, and the DLC content (new alliances) doesn't address the core pacing issue. Mixed Steam reviews reflect this exactly: players praise the concept, then bounce off once the routine sets in. Skip this unless you're specifically hunting a lightweight post-apocalyptic manager that won't demand 200 hours. The foundation exists for something better, but New Alliances never achieves the decision-density that makes similar games compelling. It's a 15-20 hour curiosity, not a commitment.
