The simulation spine is there: faction bonuses matter, loadout choices cascade into combat outcomes, and 100+ hours of content suggests depth if you dig. The problem is execution. The tutorial barely touches faction strategy or ship class roles, leaving you to learn victory conditions through trial and error. UI feels dated even for 2017, and solo AI opponents lack the aggression to teach you through pressure. If you're the type who reads every tooltip and cross-references builds online, you'll find a workable space-sim underneath.
